Kam Tabarraee, the co-founder and CEO of BOOTLEGGERS Cocktail, had a notable career as a professional engineer that spanned a decade. During his years as an engineer, Kam had the opportunity to travel extensively, both for personal and business reasons. During these journeys, he cherished the freedom to immerse himself in art, music, fine dining, cocktail bars, and the hidden gems of the cities and towns he visited. This exposure to diverse cultures and experiences ultimately inspired him to embark on his entrepreneurial journey with BOOTLEGGERS Cocktail.

Tell us about BOOTLEGGERS Cocktail and its mission. What inspired you to start this company?
Bootleggers Cocktail was developed as an elevated craft cocktail brand with a mission to connect the art of mixology to other forms of art such as visual arts and music while making a high-quality craft cocktail accessible to all, no matter where they are. I was inspired by creative hospitality and entertainment projects around the world as I was traveling through and experiencing life as a young, aspiring enthusiast of art.
What strategies do you employ to ensure that BOOTLEGGERS Cocktail remains competitive in the market?
Change above all. We understand that in today’s trendy marketplace, we have to constantly evolve, create, and rebuild to stay relevant and appealing across all the different generations.
How do you foster a culture of innovation and adaptability within your organization, considering the rapidly changing landscape of the business industry?
First and foremost, all of our founding team members are brilliant creative powerhouses. With the creative force, our minds organically navigate the upcoming landscape of our industry and our target markets in order to develop processes that allow for a considerable volume of new ideas to come in and blend into our path without compromising our core values, which always revolve around an art experience.
In addition, we very well understand the key advantages that come with proper use of cutting-edge technology and, hence, constantly seek opportunities to leverage new and advanced tools in curating more complex and always fresh products and experiences.
What steps do you take to attract and retain top talent in the industry, and how do you encourage professional growth and development within your organization?
As we all know, talent acquisition is a challenge these days across all industries. We recognize this challenge as we grow, and in principle, we always try to welcome new talent into our team with open arms. However, we take cautious steps in long-term commitment; that means our business model has been adjusted to work with a lean core team of founders and executives with an extended team of contractors that can rotate through our system, and if they organically excel, the opportunity is right in front of them to gradually join the team as a full-time member.
So, in summary, we accept the current marketplace challenges and adapt our business accordingly to mitigate risk and maximize benefit without hurting the human element of the team, which, for a creative business, is the most important core value of operation.
How do you address the increasing importance of digitalization and technology in the sector, and how does it influence the company’s operations and customer experience?
Without a doubt, we live and breathe in the era of digital communication that is fueled by complex and advanced technologies. Again, we don’t fight it; rather, we understand and digest the reality of marketplace and strategize our business accordingly.
We live at the peak of the digital marketing era in our history. A proper campaign to sell any product would not be possible without leveraging technologies and applications that are designed to assist with a higher ROI for the amount of investment. This is a universal rule of business, regardless of the sector. In addition, we take a step further and try to take advantage of upcoming and emerging technologies to create new and innovative sales channels that are customized to our mission and products. To name a few, I can refer to our Pilot Smart Cocktail Vending Machine project as well as the most recent use of drones in creating immersive visual shows at our events.
As Co-founder & CEO of BOOTLEGGERS Cocktail, what is your overall vision for the company’s future and how do you plan to achieve it?
The vision has always been about expanding our reach to share our passion with the whole world. We don’t believe that even the sky is the limit; rather, we thrive on a never-ending journey through which we hope to connect with as many souls as possible and make a difference in the day-to-day lifestyle of all humankind and beyond. The secret sauce is the “emotional experience,” and in order to establish the connection that leads to an emotional experience, we have to focus on triggering the senses. A curated sensory experience has a far greater influence on the audience than any other method of helping them feel the triggers, which can eventually lead to awareness.
What advice would you give to aspiring leaders or individuals looking to join the industry?
Never give up, no matter the challenge or the hardships. And believe me, there will be many difficulties, roadblocks, and ups and downs along the journey. Rome was not built overnight, after all. Focus on what your passion lies in and push through the walls with the power of belief in the process.
