On Wednesday, Twitter Inc. said that it was beta-testing “Notes,” a new feature that would let users exchange links to essays both within and outside of the social media network.
Along with the “Notes” function, Twitter Write will now include newsletter startup Revue, which the company purchased last year.
A limited number of authors are testing the long-form feature, and Twitter does not provide any other information on its larger roll-out. Currently, the firm limits tweets to 280 characters, a feature it started experimenting with over five years ago.
Twitter shocked users in April when it announced that it will test a new edit option in the upcoming months, calling it “the most desired feature for many.”
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla Inc. and the richest man in the world, is now purchasing the firm for $44 billion.
